Behind the Canvas - The Checkered Canvas

I love the scotch stitch! It is full coverage and doesn’t ever overwhelm a design but is just so fun looking. Plus it is easy to compensate and who doesn’t love that. The next stitch I would love to take on would be Bargello Hearts. I’ve tried and tried to get them right and just struggle so much I end up frogging it and choosing something else.

My favorite thread of all time is Very Velvet. Anything I can use it on, I do. But for standard stitching you’ll always find Essentials or Vineyard Silk in my project bags.

It sounds cliche at this point, but I wasn’t seeing a lot of canvases that were for the hobbies I was into! While I love girly things, motorsports is something I am passionate about and there wasn’t anything out there that satisfied my itch so I did it myself. It kind of took off from there and I never looked back.

Bold, Inspired, Modern

I try to stay really involved in the culture of my hobbies whether that is motorsport, horses, or needlepoint so whenever an idea pops into my head from something I’ve seen, heard, or read, I run with that

I really enjoy painting any of the Formula One cars. Each one is unique but still follows the same structure so they are quick to paint while also needing attention to detail for such a small design.

I stitched 3 of the horse brands to represent 3 of my 4 horses and I really like how easy they are on the eyes and that they’re a quick, customizable project.

Really make sure that you are leaving at least 2” margins around a perfectly centered project. It would be such a shame to spend all the time and effort painting and then stitching to not be able to finish it into something special!

The window seat of an airplane! Good light, free of interruptions, and free snacks, what isn’t there to love.

High Performance, PitStop, or Diary of a CEO

I find @ValtteriBottas absolutely hilarious to follow on all socials. Even non-F1 fans can appreciate his personality

I think it would be so fun to do stockings for everybody in my family, horses and dogs included!

It is a major tie between the IMS Pagoda and the Formula One cars! Every day one beats the other and I can’t keep up!

My absolute favorite canvas of all time is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Pagoda. As an Indy local, it is so nostalgic but also an homage to a place that is so iconic, history-rich, and played a huge role in my childhood.

Ironically the IMS Pagoda! Though IndyCar and the Speedway are known of across the country, I never expected it to have such a far reach and get so much love.

Seeing all my designs out in the wild being loved by people! As a one woman show for so long, I’m so glad to have the means through PLD to get canvases out to everybody who wants them without having to wait on me.
