Meet Katelynn Clay! A Texas native currently living in The Woodlands, Texas with her husband and little pup Ollie.
General Needlepoint
I first learned of needlepoint while bonding with my Mimi-in-law over her longtime interest in it! I then discovered Penny Linn through instagram and fell in love with the personality all of the canvases emitted! My first project was the too cute chill pill from Penny Linn Designs.
I prefer to keep things simple with the traditional basket weave since I’m still very new to needlepoint but I would love to get into decorative stitches one day soon!
Silk and Ivory girlie for sure! I love the feel and look it gives on a canvas.
About Your Designs
The idea of getting to be a part of someone else’s creativity and spark joy in others.
Fun, Vibrant, and Whimsical!
Imagining who I’m designing for and what details I could add to spark joy in them. I often feel most inspired by new products. I love imagining ways to add character to things we use and love to look at!
Possibly my skiing dogs! I feel like they are just so fun and cute! But I also have a deep love for anything blue and white or floral.
I think my favorite will be my vintage staffordshire dog sculpture, I have a vision of framing this one for my office.
My advice would be to create the kind of art you want to see in the world. Use colors that inspire, soothe, and excite you. When I really don’t know what to make I create something for a friend and it makes me feel that spark again.

Snuggled up in my green chair by my office window with my dog Ollie by my side.
I am visiting my favorite coffee shop with my husband and pup Ollie or I am brainstorming my next ceramics project.
My iPad, a notebook, and claw clip!
I am currently loving Ted Lasso! It is my husband and I’s favorite show to unwind to after work.
Good Hang! It’s a new one by Amy Poehler and it is always a good laugh and just nice to have on while I complete other tasks.

I would love to design two large matching chinoiserie themed panels to frame over my work desk.
Colors seem to really inspire me as well as animals and nature. I find sometimes that colors will inspire a piece before subject matter will.
I am very excited to see designs I made last year come out this year on products.
